About Dalen
Dalen Limited is a UK manufacturer operating from a base in Birmingham, England.
The DALEN story began in 1957 as Amington Limited, providing engineering solutions for industrial businesses. In the 1980’s we extended our operation to include the production of stands for world leading TV manufacturers under the name of Dalen. This practice continued until 1993 when we came up with an innovative solution to deal with the theft of computers from our offices by building our own IT security enclosures. On the advice of our local crime prevention officer we began to sell them to our neighbours. From that seed has grown TOP-TEC, now a leading supplier of secure workspace furnishing, AV and ICT security products.
The original Amington engineering solutions has continued to produce all forms of materials handling equipment, Access platforms, Fork lift accessories and Industrial skips. The business has grown out of our engineering background and the demand for product is primarily based on large projects with planned lead times.
The business has evolved into three distinct areas;
As Dalen, we provide specialist furniture design and manufacture of discrete products to suit client needs. Our solutions are based on considerable experience in universities where collaborative meeting spaces and effective work places are of paramount importance to deliver leading active learning spaces.
This contrasts with the TOP-TEC catalogue business of standard products in respect to the integrated use of Audio Visual equipment within higher education. The portfolio includes lecterns, collaborative tables, workspace desks, seating, digital signage, mobile device trolleys and projector & screen mounts.

Our knowledge and expertise has transitioned into corporate values for Meeting Spaces, Work Places and Training. This has been a natural progression for graduates using our products in study and then having high expectation of similar collaborative, productive and efficient work places in business.
The company is owned and managed by the Managing Director Clive Beardmore, an engineer and designer who has worked with Dalen since 1984. In an age of globalised and fractured supply chains we at Dalen continue to design and manufacture in the UK enabling us to ensure the quality of our products throughout the supply chain, and maintain our reputation as a high quality and cost effective supplier.
